Hi Everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. Today I am back with another #recipeoftheweek! As you can see above I made garlic butter shrimp and boy where they delicious. I found this recipe on Pinterest of course. I mean where else do you look for recipes?? Just kidding there are so many places to look for recipes but I do enjoy pinning all the yummy ones I see on my Food Board :)
Anyway onto this recipe it is pretty easy and it only takes about 20 minutes. I would say it takes a little more time than that because of the preparation it took to get the shrimp ready to cook. Inexperienced shell and deveiner over here! I have never done that before so that took me awhile to get all the shells and legs off and take the veins out.
After you do that you season the shrimp with salt and pepper while some butter is melting in your pan. After that butter is melted you throw the shrimp in for only 2-3 minutes. The little suckers cook fast! After they cook for that long you take them out of the pan so you can make the sauce. This where I ran into some issues. I am still learning how to cook so it is hard to manage all the different components of the recipe sometimes because well I only have two hands.
After you take the shrimp out you are instructed to put the garlic in until fragrant and so I put it in and my pan was a little too hot and I slightly burnt my garlic as you can see in the last pic. Luckily the garlic wasn't a total loss and a throw out start over again situation. But I know for next time to watch it WAY more closely. After that little mistake it made making the sauce a bit hard. But I tried anyway, in the pan you put in the broth and lemon juice let that boil and reduce it down. But since my garlic was a hint burnt I didn't want it to boil and cook it even more so I immediately threw in the rest of the butter it calls for. I let that all combine and slightly reduce down, readded my shrimp for about 2 minutes and then took them out tried them of course.
Even with the garlic mishap and not a thick enough sauce like it said they still tasted heavenly! For next time I know to have everything prepared and ready to be used before beginning the recipe because the garlic burning slightly was from not having the lemon juice squeezed yet or the broth ready. I encourage all new cooks to not get discouraged if you ever makes mistakes because you actually really learn that way and become a better cook I think.
If you try this out and like it let me know! Stayed tuned for tomorrows post, its a fun DIY that involves coffee and some other house hold ingredients...:) Can you guess??
