I am back today with a themed post for you all something a little different then my usual outfit post. I think there are many bloggers that give great outfit inspiration and I love giving it to you well but I also think what is inspiration if putting outfits together is challenging for you?
I am here today to give you some tips on how I layer in the Fall and how you can too!
Tip #1 is contrasting pattern and texture. This might sound a little complicated but it isn't I promise. Take the pictures above as reference, my shirt is plaid pattern and my sweater is fuzzy texture. This is the simplest way to create a layering effect to any outfit. By playing with pattern and texture it creates a lot of dimension in the outfit and you are only playing with two clothing pieces.
Tip#2 is play with different lengths. By playing with different lengths you automatically get the appearance of layers. I really like to wear shorter tops with longer sweaters. I don't mean cropped shirts because I don't believe that will give the layer effect you are wanting.
Tip#3 Play with the fit of your items. Umm what does that mean you might be thinking? It's quite simple I assure you, I just mean juxtapose between loose fitting and tight fitting items. I recommend this to layer beginners because it's harder to layer looser pieces right off the bat without looking frumpy. So pair a tighter top like a thermal lets say with a nice mid-thigh cardigan and a scarf. That is a combo that'll never let you down!
Lastly for Tip#4 Don't be afraid to try different things and experiment. The only reason I can sit here and give you these tips is because I was in the same boat as you and taught myself how to layer through trial and many errors..haha.
