I hope you are all well and enjoying this short week! I know this week has been short but it has felt very draining to me for a multitude of reasons. I won't go into all of them, it just hasn't been my best week. I know we all have hard days or even weeks and that it's okay and even healthy. But sometimes when I am scrolling on social media especially instagram it can feel like everyone has a wonderful perfect life and never struggle. They are always out doing things, they are tan, eating yummy food, workout everyday, and own all the beautiful things you could ever want.
I am not the first blogger, youtuber, or social media influencer to talk about this but I felt like I wanted to throw in my two cents on this topic for this #coffeeshopthoughts. I know many of us have described instagram as a "highlight reel" that these bloggers or people that post on it show only the best of their lives. I am not saying this is bad in the slightest it has even created an entire job industry. But at times it can make the people looking at this content upset, like what they have is never enough, bad about themselves, life, relationships, body etc.
It can also feel like smoke and mirrors. That you know everyone like I said has hard days, sad days, off days etc but it is hardly addressed. They(me included) could be having the worst day and you would never know because they've just put up a beautiful filtered, themed, clever captioned, hash tagged image that doesn't depict accurately at all how they are feeling.
I guess the point of me addressing this is sometimes I need to remind myself that the people that look like they have the happiest most perfect put together life don't. That we are all human and we all struggle in one way or another. No one gets through this life untouched by something hard and if they do I find that sad because it means they haven't grown much.
If you have ever spent time on social media and after feel bad about your life or who you are or what you have I hope this helps you remember that what they are showing you is only the very best.
Have a great rest of your afternoon XO
